There is so much music on these recordings, spanning 6 centuries, that
everyone will find something that they really enjoy. From big band tunes
of Duke Ellington to Medieval Ceremonial Music, marches to ragtimes, Christmas
to Hanukkah, Carmen to Wagner, there is music for everyone.
The International Trumpet Guild said of Christmas with
Solid Brass "Arranged specifically for Solid Brass by members of the
ensemble, these carols are wonderful in getting the listener in the Christmas
spirit. This performance should be enjoyed long after the holiday season.
Christmas with Solid Brass is a must for your collection of seasonal recordings."
"Imagine some of the best-known operatic works
performed by an all-star cast of vocalists and a superb opera orchestra.
Now without removing any of the emotion and personality from the performance,
with all the lyricism and finesse intact, allow yourself to hear it all
performed by brass instruments... The Solid Brass shines on this recording.
Kudos to all!" were comments by the International Trombone Association
about Solid Brass at the Opera.
Our most recent recording, Gershwin to Sousa, is a
sonic blockbuster. The listener will hear more variety of brass and percussion
colors and sonorities than they ever thought possible. Musical selections
by Duke Ellington, the Glenn Miller Band, music from the Civil War, patriotic
marches, and the popular music of George Gershwin and Aaron Copland offer
a wide range listening experience that just sparkles and is nothing but
pure fun!
Curious?
The music was recorded live and un-edited directly
to compact disc to insure the ultimate spontaneity in performance. Gershwin
to Sousa incorporates 24 bit high density stereo binaural sound using a
new process developed by Joseph Grado Signature Recordings, a leader in
the audio recording industry. Mr. Grado is one of the men who along with
Avery Fisher started the high fidelity/stereo industry over forty years
ago. He is still designing and manufacturing the finest audio equipment
in the industry. The equipment used to make Gershwin to Sousa will not
be available to other recording houses for some years to come.
Here's some of what the International Trumpet Guild said about "Gershwin to Sousa" : "an exciting album that portrays the diversity of American music...which conjures up feelings of nostalgia and patriotism. This album should definitely be considered because of its colorful selections and thoughtful interpretations."
Music lovers (from classical to soft contemporary),
brass players, and music students will enjoy quality performances by musicians
with extensive experience performing for the top Broadway shows to Carnegie
Hall and Lincoln Center to the Metropolitan Opera.
"Solid Brass at the Opera"
(Dorian Recordings), rises to the top of my list of the best brass ensemble
recordings ever issued. The 10-piece Solid Brass group has a tighter sound
than the ranking champ...
Al Fasoldt, syndicated columnist
"One of the selections on this
recording is the most startling example of stereophony I have ever come
across."
